About JO

My first three memorable photos were from childhood. A little camera that actually took pictures but had dials and a permanent lens neither of which adjusted at all. Those two photos were probably taken on the same day. One was of my younger brother in his stroller, heartily laughing as I pushed his stroller up the sidewalk then released it to roll backward, seemingly unattended by me, down the sidewalk until I intervened to stop him. It was a rare adrenalin rush for his compromised heart and extra chromosome number 21 which prevented him from walking or playing as a typically developing four year old should. He was the feature of another photo that day; an accidental double exposure which made him appear to be a ghost image peering out the window of my dad’s truck cover; eerie in that he passed away later that year and I found myself checking the truck cover sometimes just to see if he might be happily looking out at me. The third photo is less memorable for a relationship it reflects and more memorable as still life of the late 60’s. My doll perched precariously on the banana seat of my Schwinn bike. Not sitting upright as though she were riding, but laying across the seat in a delicate balancing act that revealed the ruffles of her undergarments and her eyes wide open, jointed arms thrown back over her head as though in anticipation of a fall from the seat. Fast forward 50 years or so and we are in the present. Currently learning more about my camera, its settings, photo editing, and website creating. When I’m not seeking new subjects, I’m learning new techniques and strategies to grow what I know. It’s a fun hobby and I hope you’ll enjoy the adventures along with me!
